    yes bro (assuming u’ll buy a nikkor lense) it’s an AF-S lense and also already in my list if u notice :)
    the only weak point Nikon D40x againts non AF-S lenses (eg. AF-D, AF-I) is the auto focus. U can still use those lenses, but you have to do focus manually.

    if that Sigma has HSM feature for that lense,
    than it’s OK for D40/D40x/D60
    otherwise you have to do manual focus :)
    for Sigma the key is “HSM” word :)

  4. SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8D APO EX HSM LENS will this lens work with my d40x? Has the hsm, but wanted to make sure. thanks.

  5. HSM series of Sigma will work with D40/D40x/D60
    if you still unsure, I believe the seller will allow you to test the lense on your SLR Body, bro.
    So, don’t forget to bring it with you when buying the lens
